Question:
What are the system requirements to run ZxApp IT?
Answer:
You will need Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, or Windows 7. You will
also need a Java Runtime, which can be downloaded from www.java.com.
You should have 2 gigs of ram and between 20 and 75 megs of hard disk
space available (depending on which version you install).
Question:
Does ZxApp IT run on 64 bit machines?
Answer:
Yes. But you must match the version (either 32 bit or 64 bit) to the
version of Java that you have installed. If you have installed the 32
bit version of the Java Runtime then you must install the 32 bit
edition. If you have installed the 64 bit version of the Java Runtime
then you must install the 64 bit edition.
Question:
I downloaded your application, but when I double click on it, it tells
me that Windows cannot open the file because it needs to know what
program created it.
Answer:
You are seeing this message because you have not yet installed the Java
Runtime, which can be downloaded from www.java.com.
Question:
What is Java and is it safe to run on my computer?
Answer:
You can go here
to learn about Java. Java is no less (or more) safe than any runtime
environment. If you download dangerous applications from untrusted
sources then you put your computer at risk.
Question:
I've heard that Java is slow and buggy. Why was Java chosen?
Answer:
Java is not slow, nor buggy. People that claim this are not keeping up
to date with current technological news. Not only this, but most modern
business and utility software is written to run on a virtual machine.
New Windows applications usually use the .Net runtime, which has a
virtual machine that is in many ways similar to the Java virtual
machine.
Question:
How do I run ZxApp IT from a portable drive?
Answer:
ZxApp IT does not modify the Windows Registry. What this means is that
you are free to install ZxApp IT to any drive, including a portable
drive. The computer that ZxApp IT was installed from will receive Start
Menu items to launch ZxApp IT. But you can run ZxApp IT from any other
computer simply by double-clicking on the ZxAppIT.bat
file in the ZxApp IT application directory. Run the installation
program on any computer you would like to have Start Menu items on, but
install to the same directory. One gotcha is that due to the way
Windows Vista User Access Control Security mechanism, user settings are
stored in a directory named .ZxAppIT in
the users home directory. The unfortunate side-effect is that you will
have to re-enter your registration information for each computer that
ZxApp IT is run from. Alternately, you could just copy the .ZxAppIT
directory to each machine. This has the added benefit of copying
additional user settings, such as any dictionary entries you have added,
proxy settings, etc.
Question:
I noticed that there are two different versions available for download.
How do I know which one I need?
Answer:
The
If you don't have Java installed on your system and don't want it
installed, then download the Windows Installer version
Question:
I've purchased ZxApp IT from Share*it. Now where do I get my License No
from to register?
Answer:
You supplied Share*it with an email address when you purchased ZxApp IT.
Share*it sends an email to that address titled "License Key for ZxApp
IT". Inside of that email there is an attachment named key.bin.
Open this file with any text editor, such as NotePad or WordPad, and
copy this license number down. Next, start ZxApp IT and select
[Help]->[Product Registration] from the main menu. Type or paste your
License Number from the key.bin file
into the License No: text box. Enter
your name, exactly as you supplied it to Share*it, into the Licensed
To: text box and click [Register]. If the registration is
successful then the text inside the registration box will change to
"Registered Version", and the [Register] button should change to [OK].
If you have followed these procedures and you are still having
problems, then send an email to support@ZipXap.com
titled "Registration Problem". Inside of the email, place your user
name and license information. Support will help correct your problem.
